This publication contains annual aggregate data of Canadian enterprises classified by 67 industry groups. The industry breakdowns are based on the North American Industry Classification System for companies and enterprises (NAICS Canada 2007). The data include: asset, liability and equity items encompassed in a balance sheet, revenue and expense items as reported on an income statement, a reconciliation of net profit to taxable income and taxes payable, along with several common financial performance ratios.

Content note

The Annual Financial and Taxation Statistics for Enterprises data are now collected and compiled on the basis of the North American Industrial Classification System (Canada 2007) for the entire incorporated business population as depicted on Statistics Canada's Business Register. These financial statistics cover all incorporated businesses within the domestic economy, including federal and provincial government business enterprises, but exclude enterprises classified to Management of Companies and Enterprises (NAICS 55); Religious Organizations (NAICS 8131); Political Organizations (NAICS 81394); Public Administration (NAICS 91); as well as Funds and other Financial Vehicles (NAICS 526). The taxation statistics are available beginning with reference year 2000.
