This publication provides the most current monthly labour market statistics. Each month, this publication contains a brief commentary highlighting recent developments in the Canadian labour market. It also includes a series of charts and tables on a variety of labour force characteristics, such as employment and unemployment for Canada, the provinces, metropolitan areas and economic regions.

Tables contained in this publication include: labour force characteristics by age and sex (this includes working age population, labour force, employment, full/part-time employment, unemployment, participation rate, unemployment rate, employment rate and part-time rate); employment by class of worker (public, private and self-employed) and by industry; labour force characteristics by province, by metropolitan area and by economic region; average usual hours and wages of employees by age and sex , union coverage, job permanency and occupation groups; and regional unemployment rates used by the Employment Insurance Program. This unilingual catalogue replaces the bilingual, print version, catalogue no. 71-001-PPB and Internet version, catalogue no. 71-001-PIB.
